Proto-Turkic[edit]

Reconstruction notes[edit]

The reason of semantical change in most of Turkic languages from "hard" to "steel" is probably to indicate the hardness of steel.

Etymology[edit]

Nugteren compares the word to Proto-Mongolic *kurca (sharp), whence also Mongolian хурц (xurc, sharp).

Adjective[edit]

*kurč

  1. hard
