In Volta-Niger, see Akpes iyũ, Ayere éyĩ, Àhàn eɲĩ, Arigidi eɲĩ, and Ebira aɲɪ́, Ukaan óyĩ, see Nupoid Nupe nyíkã, Gbari nyiga, Idoma ayinu, possibly Oko-Eni-Osayen írú. In more distant branches, see Proto-Plateau *nii(ŋ) (Kagoro), Ahwai unyiní, Tarok ìnyin, Proto-Eastern Oti-Volta *nin-, Dagbani nyini, Proto-Bantu *ìjínò.
