How does the Gothic form, which is no different from the Frankish, explain the gemination in *riccus? The only form that could explain it really is OHG rîhhi, isn't it? Then the word must have spread along the Côte d'Azur to Iberia, which is plausible. Or are there any other examples for unmotivated gemination in Romance borrowings from Gothic? 90.186.83.39 05:44, 10 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
