Entry names in references

[edit]

@Victar For references like Matasović, Kroonen, and Derksen, always put the name of the entry, please. —JohnC5 18:16, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

@JohnC5: Name of the entry? You can find the cited entry name in the head parameter. --Victar (talk) 18:21, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Victar: Kroonen does not contain a headword *kʷseibʰ-, nor Derksen, *ksu̯eib-, nor Matasović, *ksweyb-. —JohnC5 18:24, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@JohnC5: The passage parameter doesn't work for those references templates, so I don't know of any better way to cite the form referenced without using the head parameter. Can you show me what you mean by editing the entry? --Victar (talk) 18:38, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Victar: I'm not at home so I don't have access to the references, but if you look in the books, use the actual name of the entry in which the material you are citing exists. —JohnC5 18:42, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
OH, you mean to cite the actual head in those various sources, instead of the reconstruction of the PIE root that they give within the entry. That makes sense, but it loses the valuable PIE reconstruction for people that don't have access to the material. If I could use both head and passage parameters, that would be ideal. I guess I could manually remake the references instead of using their templates... --Victar (talk) 18:50, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Or, you just add passage parameters to the templates, like I did, mirroring other templates which do the same. --Victar (talk) 18:59, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Victar: Thank you. I think the use of |passage= is most appropriate. It is just confusing to give the entry name as something else. I'll add more to these entries later. Could you make the same change for *weyp-? —JohnC5 19:12, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
