Is »council« here intended to be »counsel«, or does it mean an actual council of some sort, like the Russian дума? If it is an actual council, shouldn’t that be a separate definition from »advice«? Vorziblix (talk) 01:39, 20 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Just совет (without any context) mean "advice, counsel", "council, board". But judging by Old East Slavic дума (duma, совет, совещание; мысль, намерение; единомышленники) it's more likely that advise is not suitable. Well, in ЭССЯ it was punctuated with error so i didn't understand properly, but in Sreznevsky (I, 742) it's ok. —Игорь Тълкачь 11:02, 20 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
