Why the initial short vowel and the final vowel?[edit]
The final vowel in Mongolic probably doesn't exist due to not allowing a final cluster -nç.
Oghuz (oblique) forms genc- also prove an original long vowel, don't they? Yorınçga573 (talk) 23:29, 16 September 2023 (UTC)
- Right, maybe Azerbaijani gənc is a reflex of a long vowel. Last vowel probably reconstructed due to Chuvash. BurakD53 (talk) 09:40, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
- The final vowel in Chuvash is probably due to original vowel length (see Tekin (1995) page 155 for other instances).
- Aside from Azerbaijani, Turkmen and DLT also proves the long vowel. Yorınçga573 (talk) 10:07, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

- I should also note that Yegerov (p95) considers the Chuvash word to be from خواجه (xâje) and Fedotov(v1, p242) suggests a borrowing from Mari, not the other way around. Yorınçga573 (talk) 18:29, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
