The WNT is a bit confusing about this word; it says that (1) Dutch vliek came from French flèche which itself most likely came from Middle Dutch vleke, vlieke. (2) Middle Dutch vlieke - is like French flèche and Middle Low German fleke - from Old Low Franconian *fliukka. (3) Dutch vleek came from Middle Dutch vleke, vlieke, though another entry seems to imply that vleek could be a different word than vliek. (4) In the old Dutch entry it seems to imply a direct line between Old Dutch *flieka, Middle Dutch vlieke and Dutch vliek. So, which word came from where? Why would Middle Dutch vlieke not have come from *flieka? And why would Dutch vliek not have come from Middle Dutch vlieke? Morgengave (talk) 09:49, 28 November 2012 (UTC)

The current source contradicts the word-tree. It says that French flèche came from Mnl vleke. This descendance is not reflected in the article. Morgengave (talk) 17:45, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
