Maybe, maybe not. If it was just a regular class 2 verb, then it's even harder to explain why OHG puts all the verbs in class 3. There must have been something unusual about the inflection that we are unable to reconstruct. In the RFM I also stated that the inflection can't be reconstructed, but that we can at least follow Ringe on the shape of the infinitive. —Rua (mew) 13:56, 26 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
OHG also had "lernon" albeit rarer. -- Is the "e" supposed to go back to a-mutation? If so, then how did it develop in "lernen"? 92.218.236.219 18:35, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
