Norwegian Nynorsk[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Old Norse *Sunniflir, originally a fjord name. First part from sunnr (“south”), last part possibly from *viflir (“low, wet terrain”). Another, unlikely, suggestion is *heflir.

- A parish, village and former municipality of Sunnmøre district, Møre og Romsdal, Norway.
Usage notes[edit]
The municipality merged with Stranda in 1964, but the parish still covers the same area. Compare the former Dalsfjord municipality in Volda.
