@Atitarev, Cinemantique, Wikitiki89 Could you help with the declension of this noun? And is it actually a noun? It's not in ruwiki and not in Zaliznyak. Benwing2 (talk) 19:04, 29 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

In theory, it has the ordinary neuter -о declension. I think as a noun it exists only in the colloquial language and only (or mostly) in the nominative case. Historically, it must have been a noun as evidenced by сле́ва (sléva), нале́во (nalévo), and вле́во (vlévo). Same goes for пра́во (právo), except that it has taken on the meaning "right" as in "entitlement", and in that meaning, it is used as a noun in the formal language as well. --WikiTiki89 19:22, 29 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
It's a special case, not sure how to solve right now. Adjective ле́вый (lévyj) is not qualitative, so it shouldn't have short forms in modern Russian. The "declension" only shows in examples listed by Wiki above. Maybe {{only in|сле́ва|lang=ru}}, {{only in|нале́во|lang=ru}}, etc.? --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 23:07, 29 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

declension[edit]

@Atitarev Please review. I made it declinable and singular, and added an "only in" message. There's still the case of the meaning "political left", though, which ought to be declined as a normal noun. Benwing2 (talk) 06:08, 5 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

It is a weird case. The derived adverbs are written as one word. They may be derived from лев root, not from this form. I did what I could but someone may argue it's wrong. The political sense has no ground, IMO. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 06:21, 5 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think it would be better to list the noun sense as colloquial and do some research as to whether and how it declines, and to list the слева/влево/налево as related terms. --WikiTiki89 15:16, 5 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
