The proper noun אילן is given as (also) meaning “Elon”. That name is already represented by אלון. Can it be confirmed that אילן too is used for “Elon”? (If it can, the nikud as given in אִילָן still can’t be right.)  --Lambiam 07:47, 2 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ilan (אילן) is poetic for "tree", while Alon (אלון) means oak. Note that אלון is never pronounced as Elon, but Alon. Both אילן and אלון are common male names. Hope this helps. אילן שמעוני (talk) 18:18, 18 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Lambiam, I did some research and edited accordingly. Please review.
