@Calak, ZxxZxxZ, can you check the earliest date of attestation of Persian? --Vahag (talk) 07:08, 12 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Found it in a poem by Suzani Samarqandi. Should search for older attestation.--Calak (talk) 07:38, 12 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
I need to know whether to treat this as a borrowing from Old or Middle Armenian (pre- or post-11th century). --Vahag (talk) 08:50, 12 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Hi. the خاچ (xach) entry in Dehkhoda[1] states that the first attestation is w:Kamal od-Din Esmail, mentioning the corresoponding poem. But in the entry for خاج (xaj) it has cited Suzani Samarqndi's (died 1166) poem, who lived before the former. It's a rare word, and I couldn't find anything else in the literature. --Z 14:59, 12 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thank you both. I guess formally we should treat this as a Middle Armenian borrowing. --Vahag (talk) 18:09, 12 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
