Perhaps ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ned- (“to turn, twist, knot”). Compare with Persian نستوک (nastuk, “roving, sliver”), نستاک (nestâk, “A twist of the guts, gripes”).--Hamaabir (talk) 11:22, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
