@Wyang I think we'll transliterations for Thai headwords, like most non-Roman languages, even if they are duplications. Can we discuss this?-Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 05:04, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Yes, of course. I don't think transliterations/transcriptions belong there. (1) The use of transcription system is highly inconsistent at the moment. (2) Even if it is made to match the Paiboon output in the th-pron template, what if a bug in the program is discovered on day 30 post-implementation of the template? And one hundred more bugs discovered on day 50, 70, 90, ...? Wyang (talk) 05:07, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I thought about this. Maybe headwords could use the info from the pronunciation section? Not sure if it's feasible without duplications. The pronunciation section could eventually include more info, eg the official royal transliteration the headword only one. We only have Chinese entries without transliterations in the headwords but they cover more than one lect. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 05:20, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think all the transliteration/transcription info should be handled in the pronunciation section and will eventually be as Wiktionary codes become more efficient. Why repeat the same information at different places when the time could be better spent elsewhere. In Chinese we say 事半功倍 (shìbàn-gōngbèi) (as opposed to 事倍功半 (shìbèi-gōngbàn)). I actually agree with Wyang, although I think that ultimately Wiktionary should be able to duplicate the content with no extra effort (but that'll have to wait until we get something that can do the job of Extension:Variables installed here). Have you checked with the Thai native speakers here to get their opinions? —Μετάknowledgediscuss/deeds 05:45, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Wyang, Metaknowledge I have just posted on User:Iudexvivorum's talk page and pinged User:Alifshinobi. I won't have objections to not having manual transliterations on Thai headwords. We should strive to automate as much as possible. I saw {{th-usex}}, it's great too! --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 10:46, 30 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
