2[edit]

Etymology 2 can not be from Old Armenian սէր. For Georgian სერი/სერობა (seri/seroba) in Mingrelian we got ოსერაშე/ოსერიშე/ოსერიშო/ოსერშე/ოსერშო (oserashe/oserishe/oserisho/osershe/osersho) and ოსერშობა/ოსერიშობა (Osershoba/Oserishoba) with ser- root (meaning "night", "evening") and the literary meaning "evening/night supper/feast". In both (Mingr. / Geo.) cases the root is ser-, which is highly probably from Hurrian. Abkhazian1 (talk) 09:00, 28 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Abkhazian1, what's the philological status of Georgian სერი (seri)? Is it attested in Old or Middle Georgian? Is it recorded in the dialects? Old Armenian սէր (sēr, agape, love-feasts) is attested only in Patericon. If სერი is a living word, then a borrowing from the rare bookish Armenian term is unlikely. --Vahag (talk) 15:28, 28 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
