ἄφες

Excuse my idée fixe with imperatives. I was looking for the coumpound ἄφες, aorist2 imperativus of ἀφίημι from ἕς of ἵημι. I see ἕς in the infl.table of ἵημι as imperative of εἵμην. But I cannot find ἄφες at ἀφίημι (or am I not seeing it?). I know how complicated ἵημι is. ἕς is in Smyth 759, I undertand at Second Aorist ἧκα (using -κ for indicative). The current greek schoolgrammar by Ikonomou gives table Aorist2 ἧκα. Hence imperative compounds with recessive accent ἄνες, ἄφες, πάρες, etc. I am sure you have good reason placing it at εἵμην. Could someone possibly make an ἄφες page some time in the future? It is quite popular because of this little prayer taught at greek schools (no religious purpose) especially for imperatives (it's full of them). @Sarri.greek: Fixed. Now it's in the table titled Aorist: ἀφείμην, ἀφείθην. The stems had been entered incorrectly. I've created an entry for ἄφες (áphes). — Eru·tuon 17:43, 23 March 2018 (UTC)

@Erutuon: how can it become ἄφες ἄφετε in the table too? I know, compounds with recessive stress, are a problem at auto-tables. Same problem in mod.greek. Anyway... Thanks Eru! sarri.greek (talk) 20:10, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

@Sarri.greek: Ahh, I didn't even notice that discrepancy. It's a problem in Module:grc-conj/data. You can see the endings if you search for aor_hiemic on the page; they have accent hard-wired into them (rather than it being added later in Module:grc-conj). I don't totally understand how this module works and I didn't work on it like I did on Module:grc-decl and its submodules, but I might try to fix this at some point. — Eru·tuon 20:26, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

@Sarri.greek: It is actually possible to override individual forms. The process is explained at the bottom of Template:grc-conj/documentation: for the imperatives ἄφες ἄφετε (áphes áphete), you use |AC2S=ἄφες|AC2P=ἄφετε, which stand for "active command second-person singular" and "active command second-person plural". (AI2S means "active indicative second singular".) To manually type in all the forms, you can do {{grc-conj|aor-irreg||||ἀφεῖτον|ἀφείτην|...}}, probably in the order in which the forms appear in the table.

I've made the module generate the correct active imperatives, for this verb at least. But now the module generates ἔπᾰνες (épanes) as second person singular present active imperative of ἐπανίημι (epaníēmi), which is probably wrong (Smyth § 426). The rules seem so complex that I don't have a handle on them. — Eru·tuon 22:04, 30 March 2018 (UTC)

Yes @Erutuon:, the exceptions are chaotic.
