Neologism[edit]

Is this really a neologism? My Chinese friends often use this to make one of one another (they're all straight)... —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 03:11, 23 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Are you sure they're not using 基友 (jīyǒu)? —suzukaze (tc) 03:14, 23 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
I'm pretty sure. Although, some of them do speak Cantonese, so they just transliterate it to Mandarin? —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 11:46, 23 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Neologism just refers to any word whose origin is relatively recent. The earliest attestation of this word I could find on Google Books is in 1985 - this is much more recent compared to the examples in Neologism#Sources... Wyang (talk) 12:01, 23 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
Oh, my mistake then... I'm going to have to tag a lot of Hindi words as neologisms now... —Aryaman (मुझसे बात करो) 13:11, 23 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
