Pronunciation module[edit]

@Justinrleung I found a video of someone from Chaozhou using this word: [1]. As you can hear, there is also no tone sandhi on 暝, so this is clearly not unique to Singapore Teochew. As such, I think the module needs to be fixed to reflect the lack of tone sandhi in this instance. The dog2 (talk) 04:05, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@The dog2: Yes, this is a neutral tone situation, which our module cannot handle at the moment. The only thing we could do is to note it with {{attn}} in the source code. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 04:49, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: What's this neutral tone thing by the way? I just commit the pronunciations to memory, so I'm not familiar with what it refers to in Teochew. The dog2 (talk) 14:50, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: If there is a neutral tone in the second syllable, the first syllable keeps its original tone, and the second syllable is pronounced with a low tone (tone 3/7) regardless of its original tone. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 16:16, 24 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Justinrleung: So basically, you just have to memorise the words in which there is a neutral tone in the second syllable, right? The dog2 (talk) 08:42, 25 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: Yes, that's right. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 16:31, 25 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
