The definition "or"[edit]

@The dog2 Hi, I saw that you added the definition “or” in this entry. Do you mean to add it in the entry 抑是 (yìshì) instead? Also, are you adding this from the perspective of a Singaporean Hokkien speaker? Thanks. Mar vin kaiser (talk) 09:34, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Mar vin kaiser: Oh, I didn't know there was a different character for that. But yes, that's the Hokkien equivalent of 還是 that I was trying to add. The dog2 (talk) 16:56, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: I see. So the pronunciation "á-sī" that you used in the example sentence to mean "or", is it from Singaporean Hokkien? --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 06:56, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Mar vin kaiser: Come to think of it, the pronunciation I put seems incorrect if you consider tone sandhi. I forgot where I found it but it was probably from some online Taiwanese dictionary. The dog2 (talk) 19:54, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@The dog2: How about the Teochew pronunciation and "阿是"? Did you get that from somewhere? --Mar vin kaiser (talk) 23:17, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
