@Justinrleung: Hi. The term 細孥囝细孥囝 has been used for ever but my only source for the full word is Wiktionary. Is it and SoP? Can the reading be verified? I thought I'd fill that red link. Feel free to delete if it's wrong or unverifiable. Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 04:06, 17 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Atitarev: Where did you get this word from? RcAlex36 (talk) 05:17, 17 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Atitarev: I will send this to rfv then. (I'm not sure I trust the IP.) When you're not sure, it's probably best to not create the entry even if there's a red link. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 04:47, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Chinese. From baby#translations, but not sure if this is verifiable. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 04:48, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Teochew. I created the entry. It's made of (soi3, little) and 孥囝 (nou1 gian2, child). We have both entries as Teochew components. So, it's literally "little child". It was first added as a translation, simply in "soi3 nou5gian2" in w:Peng'im transliteration in diff by an IP, then converted to use Chinese characters in diff by User:Fish bowl. If the entry is unverified and deleted, shall we delete the translation as well or split the Teochew translation into its SoP parts, like this: 孥囝孥囝 (soi3 nou5 gian2) or delete entirely? Google shows hits but they are not very meaningful. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 00:06, 24 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Orthodox/Original form of 細路仔 (sai3 lou6 zai2) in Cantonese. (lou6) (nou4) are close in pronunciation. -- Ywhy (talk) 04:08, 24 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
This would be unattested in Cantonese AFAIK, so the claim that it's "orthodox/original" probably doesn't hold water. Also connecting 孥 to tdoesn't seem to explain why it's l- in Cantonese (according to conservative sources) or tone 6. Moreover, 囝 is not "etymological" for zai2 in Cantonese (only seems to be used for zai2 when it's in 囝囝 zai4 zai2). — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 02:10, 25 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, 潮陽方言研究 should be enough for verification, but just for Chaoyang dialect. — justin(r)leung (t...) | c=› } 18:00, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
