GBS gives many hits. The term occurs numerous times in this volume of Manshū chishi. For more recent examples of use, see this (translated) book by Great Teacher Woo Myung. My ability to read Japanese is virtually non-existent so I cannot confirm the sense.  --Lambiam 09:27, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

I was amused to note too that the term appears in the JA WP and in the JA Wikisource (which shows the maki reading), even though the JA WT page has no entry section for Japanese. The term also appears in the 「魔鬼雨」 translated title of the 1975 film, The Devil's Rain, as listed at Weblio and Eijirō.

That plus the numerable other instances found at google books:"魔鬼" "は" (adding the "は" to ensure we get Japanese hits) suggests quite compellingly that this is a term in Japanese, regardless of its presence or absence in other Japanese dictionaries. ‑‑ Eiríkr Útlendi │^{Tala við mig} 17:07, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
