Republic of China (Taiwan)

The phraseology "Republic of China (Taiwan)" is very common in Taiwan government literature (see for instance this Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan) page). This wording is very helpful to the English speaking reader since many English speakers don't know the official name of Taiwan. I therefore strenuously object to that portion of diff in which "(Taiwan)" is removed that I had added in diff, but I realize that people can have different opinions. I suggest that "(Taiwan)" and "(mainland China)" be added to the etymology for clarity's sake. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 22:32, 21 September 2022 (UTC)

@Geographyinitiative: Fair point! Feel free to revert it. My main goal was to try to explain that the dispute over territorial claims is what motivates this deliberately ambiguous term, but maybe that can be done in a better way. 70.172.194.25 22:34, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
