@-sche Did this term (and Fachidiotismus) originate in Marxist circles? The nineteenth-century attestations of Fachidioten weakly suggest this, and Marx used "idiotisme du métier" in Misère de la philosophie from the mid nineteenth century. If so, it probably is indeed formed from Fachidiotismus. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 09:13, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Google Ngrams show a spike around 1960, so it's probably not from the "original" Marxist circles, but the 1960s flavor. The 19th c. attestations looked like data errors to me. – Jberkel 13:04, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Jberkel These [1] [2] do not seem like misdates to me, even if the latter one is a reprint. The 1960s origin cannot be correct, the Dutch descendant predates that by decades. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 18:00, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Lingo Bingo Dingo: You're right, it looks like it can be traced back to Marx, it was only "rediscovered" (and hit a nerve) in the 1960s. – Jberkel 20:25, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
