It would be fantastic if we included the following citation on this entry or the citations page for this entry:

No, because a Gary Stu isn't just defined by his characteristics, but also how the universe treats him.

Despite all of his godlike super-intelligence, he's still constantly at odds with the universe and himself. He constantly has to think of creative ways to outwit opponents. Even if we know he'll eventually outwit them, its how he does it that makes the story compelling.

Even if you were to examine his character, he has obvious flaws: alcoholism, arrogance, selfishness, and a general disregard for humanity.

The boards.fireden.net link above has multiple posts that posit the meaning of "Gary Stu", so if we don't want to use the above citation we could use a similar one from that link.
