Etymology[edit]

There was a long, digressive section here I removed. Whatever misspellings may have appeared on maps, the English name certainly derives from Norse/Danish "Green + land". The place for spurious origins of that name is at Grønland or Grœnland and at w:Name of Greenland, with some sources to back it up. LlywelynII (talk) 00:05, 18 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
