Honest? --Connel MacKenzie 06:45, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Almost impossible to confirm or deny this kind of thing. It could just as easily be Husband's ;-) Depends on the person who writes it. But as far as I know, all my circle use it and, more importantly, understand it to mean Humble. Algrif 14:09, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We could take all the fun out of the alternative definitions by putting the idea of such alternatives in "Usage notes" and mentioning the best examples. I wouldn't want to spend time verifying alternatives to the humble meaning. DCDuring 19:00, 14 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, maybe it's an old timer thing. I've understood that to be a secondary meaning for 20 years now. So I googled to see if the understanding of my "circle" is way out there.
IMHO "In my honest opinion"
41,800 hits before expansion of similar. I think that's good enough for me?
If you're wondering, "in my Husband's opinion" also shows up. 10 hits. (All tongue in cheek of course. My favourite's the the one who claims she doesn't allow her husband to have one.) OK, I'm having fun, so let's see if I can stump the panel. Not easy! Other clowns: In my holy opinion, 75 hits, some on religious sites; hesitating-23, hellish-3 (darn, I thought I had it with that one) horrible-11, horrid-1, Ah! I did it! No hits for IMHO "in my harebrained opinion." That is, until google finds this page.

Internet[edit]

Since the OED now has this, should the "Internet" tag still apply? Please note that this was used before the internet's rise to high popularity, on USENET, and BBS/BBS-networks as well. 65.93.12.101 09:00, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What does the OED's having it have to do with the "Internet" tag? Isn't this still primarily an Internetism? —RuakhTALK 02:18, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rfv-senses "in my (not-so-)honest opinion". An anon tried to delete it, and I have never heard of it. --WikiTiki89 01:56, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
