Joe's

[edit]

No thanks. --Keene 12:05, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Delete just like all compositional 's compounds, but move the last citation to Citations:Eat at Joe's, since Eat at Joe's is a very plausible candidate for inclusion. -- Visviva 13:10, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Delete but keep the last and any citations where Joe's refers to a generic eatery. DAVilla 21:37, 21 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Delete possessive/contractive senses but keep as a component of Joe's Diner and Eat at Joe's, both of which use "Joe's" as a shorthand for the everyman's place. bd2412 T 05:04, 22 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
If the 1846 quotation is generic, or if there is another quotation outside of "Joe's Diner" and "Eat at Joe's", then I would agree with you. DAVilla 04:32, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here's a pair:

  1. 1941, Henry Mills Alden, et al., Harper's Magazine, p. 336:
You sit round in the evening talking, or you study, or you go to Joe's for a beer.
  2. 1991, Loyd E. Lee, World War II: Crucible of the Contemporary World : Commentary and Readings, p. 289:
You go to Joe's grill or Doc's for cokes not because those places are charming, or the food good—but because the crowd goes.
