Mr Big[edit]

An Australian Mafia boss? --Connel MacKenzie 02:08, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, just a general crime boss, or jokingly any self-important person. It's also used in the US. --EncycloPetey 02:12, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
In the U.S., it's Mr. Big. bd2412 T 03:57, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, but on Wiktionary we place the entry at Mr instead of Mr. because we don't use periods in entry names. --EncycloPetey 04:04, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
But Mr. redirects to Mr - shouldn't there be a similar redirect in this case? bd2412 T 04:34, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Certainly, but the main entry should be Mr Big. --EncycloPetey 05:04, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

My original definition was The head of a crime syndicate, a high ranking criminal., and made no mention of Mafia (which it is not about). This term goes back at least 30 years in Australia, not sure when it moved elsewhere.--Dmol 22:38, 9 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cites added to entry.
