"Irregular"[edit]
It has become evident to me that the Wade-Giles system has several variant forms: ko [1] and kuo for 國. (cf. [2]) K'o-tzu-le-su and K'o-tzu-lo-su where 勒 is le or lo. Below, I provide see several examples of 子, "normally" rendered as tzu, instead rendered as 'tze'.
chiao tze (1976) 餃子／饺子 (jiǎozi) [3]
"Generally speaking, there are two major categories of tsung-tze; the northern variety and the southern, with the Yangtze River as the dividing line." (1982) [4]
tsung-tze x2 (1965) 粽子 (zòngzi) [5]

- @Geographyinitiative Thanks for doing all that work, but no those are just irregular romanizations. If you can find books by Wade or by Giles that use it, those sources would be worth talking about but these here are just examples of people thinking Wade and Giles were wrong on that syllable and then choosing not to use their system.
