Is the list of abbreviations commonly used in dictionaries useful? Wiktionary has its own list (m, f, n, c and no others) and the style of the entries in this list is specific to a particular dictionary (abbreviations of word categories being capitalised and having points ("."), where other dictionaries use lower case, or an initial capital only, and no points).

Furthermore, why are these abbreviations given Wiktionary entries when they are specific only to the terminology of a dictionary rather than part of the general English language? Wouldn't it be better simply to put the abbreviations and their full forms in a table instead, without any Wiktionary links? — Paul G 07:03, 21 Jul 2004 (UTC)
