Apply for a position[edit]

Where include "applying for a position in the Office" ?. --Mac 12:26, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See apply sense #6, and position noun sense #2. —RuakhTALK 22:49, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible definition[edit]

Characteristic or reminiscent of apples? That is apple +‎ -y? Mglovesfun (talk) 18:21, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I added it as alternative spelling of appley. It looks attestable based merely on the results of a quick search for "apply smell", but the good hits were far less numerous that for "appley smell". DCDuring TALK 21:27, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Possible missing verb senses[edit]

Chambers 1908 has two transitive verb senses: "(obsolete) to ascribe" and "to bring (a ship) to land". Equinox 02:25, 13 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
