Is this a homophone with aria?

Not in my accent/dialect where "aria" is /A:ri:@/ and "area" is "e@ri:@" Hippietrail 10:19, 29 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Adjective use?[edit]

Isn't area an adjective, basically meaning the same thing as "local", when used to describe "area restaurants" or The Onion's ubiquitous "area man"? bd2412 T 22:46, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
