@Lingo Bingo Dingo: "have a go at" sounds close; maybe "tickle" (as in tickle the ivories)? The TLFi defines it such: "Utiliser, manier par jeu, par distraction ou en amateur. Taquiner un instrument de musique."

régaler is used as a synonym of inviter here, so "treated" is the right translation. "c'est moi qui régale" = "c'est moi qui invite" = "I'm paying; it's my treat". Canonicalization (talk) 12:04, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
