like a bride's biscuit[edit]

May be said of something burning ("Today, when enamel is baked on a refrigerator or stove in the factory, temperature and baking time must be closely controlled or the finish will burn like a bride's biscuit"), sinking ("my heart sank like a bride's biscuit"), or falling ("He knows that ballet would fall like a bride's biscuit without me"). The allusion is to a young wife not yet having developed her culinary skills. Equinox 19:40, 11 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
