circular definition?[edit]

The Article definition cites an earlier version of the article (Retrieved from "http://en.wiktionary.org/w/index.php?title=buckboard&oldid=26743677") and that version cites itself. The wikipedia article quotes the same definition, but cites answers.com, but that definition comes from Wikipedia and so is circular. I've modified the WP article to remove the circular reference and added a {{cn}} template, but I've left the text. I'm less clear about what should be done here at WIKT. Is it normal for a definition to cite a previous version of the same article, using oldid= ? Even if so, if the referenced article has no underlying reference, then what? This seems to be a case of turtles all the way down. Mathglot (talk) 23:28, 13 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

The article as it stands now looks all right. We don't have to cite everything in the way that WP does (though of course some citations from real books etc. would be nice). Equinox 23:31, 13 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
