Boatload[edit]

I'm pretty sure this has some relation to "boatload" they are too similar in pronunciation for this to have been a coincidence.

The same similarity is in e.g. coatable and cuttable, which are unrelated. Equinox 10:34, 5 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Volume or mass[edit]

There may be an actual measurement but I'm not sure how to integrate these: The English Dialect Dictionary (1898) describes a butt-load as a cart load about 18 hundredweight (ie. about 914 kg). Meanwhile, The Rural Economy of the West of England (1796) describes a butt load as about six seams (ie. about 48 bushels or 1745 litres), which is repeated in The Dictionary of Trade Products (1858). - AdamBMorgan (talk) 18:53, 7 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
