The following quotation is used as an example of the English Noun definition 2.1 (a tabular presentation of data) but it appears to actually be referring to definition 2.3 (a graph). Drawings and pictures are more than mere ornaments in scientific discourse. Blackboard sketches, geological maps, diagrams of molecular structure, astronomical photographs, MRI images, the many varieties of statistical charts and graphs: These pictorial devices are indispensable tools for presenting evidence, for explaining a theory, for telling a story. 18:01, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
