Middle English diacritics[edit]

Hi, @Hazarasp, thanks for your edits to the entry. I notice that the Middle English Dictionary Online uses a lot of diacritics in its Middle English entries. Should I generally not reproduce them when setting out ME words? — SGconlaw (talk) 17:47, 22 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Generally, you shouldn't, as there aren't any real conventions for ME diacritics. For example, the MED uses <ẹ̄> for /eː/ and <ē> for /ɛː/, but other sources use <ē> for /eː/ and <ę̄> for /ɛː/. --Hazarasp (talk · contributions) 23:05, 22 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
OK, thanks. — SGconlaw (talk) 01:56, 23 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
