According to the OED the correct word is (deprecated template usage) coutere. I'm pretty sure that defining it as a French verb is just a silly mistake. SemperBlotto (talk) 15:02, 26 August 2017 (UTC)

Well, the 1990 reform did alter the rule regarding circumflex:

Circumflex accents are removed on i and u if they are not needed to distinguish between homographs. They are retained in the simple past and subjunctive of verbs:…
