@Lingo Bingo Dingo How would you describe the use of "doen" in "doe mij maar X", as in, give me one of X, or I prefer X [over an implied or previously discussed option Y]? Should it have a new sense? Not sure about this one. — Mnemosientje (t · c) 06:33, 11 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Mnemosientje I would say it is a hortative function (I think that this is often used with maar as a discourse particle is an indication, because this is typically used with commands and requests), but I am not 100% certain and asking in the Tea Room may be useful. Interestingly, the WNT has a meaning "to give, to provide, to bestow" (A. 13) that doesn't look particularly related but could be relevant.
