It's meaningful to note that a dogtrot is a breezeway but a breezeway is not necessary a dogtrot ... similar to a square is a rectangle but a rectangle is not necessarily a square. A dogtrot is a specific type of breezeway between two sections of a house. It is a hallway with the two ends open. The house is then itself called a dogtrot or can be described as a dogtrot house.
