I'd say keep. Fighting games are a specific genre, and there are lots of video games (almost all video games, in fact) that contain fighting or are even based around fighting, but are not fighting games. --Yair rand 22:38, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Except that if you called anything in the Metroid, Halo, Super Mario, Mega Man, Kirby, Pokemon, Sonic, Star Fox, Advance Wars, Legend of Zelda, or Fire Emblem series (all of which are games entirely based on fighting) a fighting game, you'd be completely wrong. --Yair rand 23:04, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

The only games I know on your list - Super Mario, Zelda, and Sonic - are far from entirely based on fighting, but a variety of running about, jumping on boxes, squashing stuff, catching magical stuff, trying no to jump into bad stuff, and a little bit of fighting. Okay, those weren't the best examples , (actually most were very bad examples, but those are the first that came to mind when thinking of games with fighting that aren't fighting games) but the point is that a fighting game is not just a game based on fighting and there are lots of games that are based on fighting but aren't fighting games. --Yair rand 23:20, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Strong keep - as a gamer, I can you tell you this a discrete genre, not just a game with fighting in it. That HP depletion you speak of is an essential part of any game in the fighting game genre. You can still have fighting in a video game which is not labelled a fighting game, e.g., in beat 'em ups or first-person shooters. It's the same as rhythm and blues and gospel music, which is not just blues with rhythm or music with gospel in it. ---> Tooironic 23:01, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
