I see you have a habit of doing this. To explain my reasons for using templates: it simplifies the editing space and adds more useful information. It balances these things greatly. Nervelita (talk) 05:33, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

These templates greatly complicate the presentation of the citations with information that is not relevant or necessary in the context of the entry. I don't believe their use has ever been mandated by any adopted policy. As there can never be a template for every possible source, they actually make the presentation of citations less standardized. I'd like to suggest that it would be much more useful to add illustrative, carefully selected citations where none already exist than to spend time editing perfectly well-presented existing ones.
