Should cover pronunciation. I think physicists and radio engineers pronounce it "JIG-uh" reflecting its kinship to "gigantic", and others (who didn't start using it until they'd learn it from sales clerks) "GIG-uh", but have no idea where to verify that.

I guess usage is split -- I thought "1.21 jiggawatts" was a joke until I looked in a dictionary. Would be interesting to nail down which groups use which pronunciation. Cynewulf 04:04, 20 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
