Suggestion[edit]

I have been thinking about the possibility for this word to be a corruption of the word 'gum[m[e]]', from Old Norse 'gumi', meaning 'man'. The Swedish female counterpart of 'gubbe' is 'gumma'. Any thoughts? Skomakar'n 18:59, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
