He could tell she wanted to cry. "We've made a pact that we are going to try to get into men's basketball, and we're not going to do any of this crying stuff," he reminded her, and she gutted it out.

"tough it out" is a derivation of tough out, which no one has yet created. We do not yet have gut out, which should be verifiable via WT:CFI. If the quote you used above is a direct quote from a durably archived form, then gutted it out is one-third the way to being verified!
