I'm new to Wiktionary, so I'm not sure of the best way to indicate sources. "While today's homespuns are usually manufactured in factories, the unique style of weaving colored threads together to form a pattern still remains the primary characteristic of all homespuns. A homespun fabric is usually all cotton and can be identified by the fact that there is no front or back to the fabric. The design is in the color of the threads so both sides are the same. True homespuns are always either plaid, stripe, or solid." From https://jubileefabric.com/about-homespun-fabric.html "Characteristics of modern homespun fabric include an imperfect finish. Homespun fabric also has no distinct front or back. Designs are created by weaving colored threads together. Further, with homespun cotton fabric, the material tends to fray in a way that lends itself to rag-style quilts." Wiktionary is a descriptive dictionary based on usage, not on authoritative references, so your sources are probably unnecessary. Also, as a dictionary, the emphasis is on words and phrases as language, not on the concepts they refer to. In other words. this entry is about what people mean when they say "homespun", not about describing what homespun is. Chuck Entz (talk) 05:50, 23 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
