Moth[edit]

Is this related to the word iichʼąhii (moth)? 71.66.97.228 04:24, 1 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it is the basis for iichʼąhii. —Stephen 14:49, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fire[edit]

What is the "fire" part of the etymology? It's not kǫʼ? 71.66.97.228 19:11, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

No, it is part of a hypothetical verb *Øchʼąh. —Stephen 19:41, 8 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, maybe you could add that to the etymology section, which just has an English description rather than that hypothetical Navajo word. 71.66.97.228 19:38, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

But the hypothetical word is not a real word. And it has no meaning. Hypothetically it contains the sense of fire and it’s a verb, but it is not "to fire". The smallest unit is iichʼąh, in which iiʼ has a relevant meaning. Possibly chʼ is in some way related to kǫʼ, but how is not known. —Stephen 03:39, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Culture-specific syndrome[edit]

I don't know to what extent this is a separate sense of the word, but there's this: Iich'aa. Equinox 19:50, 21 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
