Continuing the archived discussion from above, there may be yet another part of speech more appropriate than either adjective or adverb for in line. Consider "actions in line with regulations" and "we acted in line with regulations", demonstrating the phrase's ability to serve as either a (postpositive) adjective or an adverb. Not to be confused with in-line, as in "in-line code", which is more concretely adjectival. Rriegs (talk) 22:47, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
