French section, inter- etymology[edit]

in the Fr etymology of inter- it says "Cognate with the non-borrowed form entre-", but isn't entrepreneur a borrowed form of entre-? 2603:8001:D3F0:87E0:0:0:0:10D0 17:33, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Uncategorized derived words[edit]

So I did a somewhat silly (ambitious?) thing and decided to categorize all of the derived words of inter- by sense. I've been doing this as a way to refine the senses for other prefixes but generally for the other prefixes I've been looking at something like 50-100 derived words rather than over a thousand. After scraping the Category of derived words for inter-, I got 1310 distinct word senses (after removing the synonyms and alternate spellings). Over the course a week I sorted 1274 of them into clusters that made enough sense to me that writing a definition for it felt reasonable, and just updated the entry for inter- accordingly.

I wasn't able to categorize 100% of them - my brain is saturated and eager to move on to other things. So for posterity and/or if anybody wants to finish the task, here is what I had left over by the time I'd identified senses for categorizing 97% of the derived words. There are about 50 outstanding word senses.

The biggest thing in here that I wasn't sure what to do with was all the different senses of interface. Should all the physics/chem/computing senses of that word be categorized as derived from its original sense? Or create a sense just for interface? Similar issue with intermurual.
